Surprisngly good., April 25, 2012 This review is from: Pflueger 2-Piece Echelon Light Spinning Rod and Reel Combo (5-Feet, 6-Inch) (Sports) I purchased this Combo 1 year ago as a quick impulse and have used it regularly since then.
Rod:
Pros: The handle is comfortable and transfers bites easily. The added hook loop at the top of the handle on the rod is a great and I don't understand why more rods don't have it. It assembles easily and unlike many other 2 piece rods stays together during your cast.
Cons: Very whippy, even for a light action rod. The guides are solid and have lasted a year without issue, but I would prefer it to have metal guides.
Reel:
Pros: Smooth retrieve and quick lock, ambidextrous handle for you left handers. The drag is easy to adjust and works well. Bail opens with the right amount of resistance and when you close it it's just as smooth.
Cons: No documentation available from Pflueger on a breakdown of this to oil it, or how much line gets pulled with each revolution of the handle.
