First fly rod outfit, great starter for learning, January 19, 2012

i purchased this rod on sale from a large department store. this is my first fly rod and i used this to learn for casting. it is a medium to fast action and came with 5 weight line with weight forward taper. since its my first rod, i don't have any other fly rods to compare it with. since using this rod, the weight doesn't burden my arm nor does the cork handle irritate my hands/fingers. i've been able to get up to 35+ feet after a few weeks of practicing. one problem i noticed is the sections will often loosen up and start to twist. in order to stop this i make sure to really squeeze together the sections tight enough so they will stay snug the whole time. other than that, i'm happy with this purchase even more so since i got this exact outfit $30 cheaper than offered here.
